What is Terps Learn Everywhere?
Four domains describe how Terps grow beyond the classroom.
Engage Inquisitively—engaging with curiosity to understand oneself, others and society while pursuing innovative solutions.
Practice Compassion—leading with empathy, kindness and care for oneself, others and the broader community.
Act with Courage—taking thoughtful risks, embracing challenges, learning from mistakes and acting with integrity.
Work for Justice—understanding systems, challenging inequities, serving communities and advocating for positive change.
The domains give students, and the people who work with them, a common vocabulary for growth that doesn't appear on a transcript.
Why Terps Learn Everywhere Matters for Learning
Students describe college by listing what they did. "I was a Resident Assistant." "I worked in dining." "I was on exec board."
They rarely describe what they learned, which is the version employers, graduate programs and their own families are asking for.
Naming the learning makes it usable. A student who can say what a campus job taught them can carry that into an interview, an application or a decision about what comes next.
The Terps Learn Everywhere reflection postcards list all eight NACE career readiness competencies under every domain and let students select the ones that apply. Students decide what they learned; the domains give them the language to say it.
How You Can Use Terps Learn Everywhere
Name the learning in your program description. Add three bullets that say what a student will be able to do, not what the program includes.
Use a reflection prompt. One question at the end of a program, a shift or a one-on-one turns an experience into something a student can describe later.
Recognize someone. Nominations for the Terps Learn Everywhere: In Action Awards are open.

Reflection postcards, domain pins, notebooks, t-shirts, stickers and a divisional tablecloth are available from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, purchased with assistance from the Terp Family Fund and the Division of Student Affairs.
Requests need to be attached to a moment where a student learns something about their own learning.
