Events & Traditions

Home Student Life Events & Traditions

From rubbing Testudo’s nose for good luck to leaving offerings during finals, traditions are part of the Maryland experience. The Division of Student Affairs carries that spirit forward through events and programs that bring students together, build community and create lasting memories.

Fall Welcome

Department of Resident Life

Fall Welcome bridges the gap between move-in and your first day of class. It's packed with exclusive activities to help you settle in, from game nights and FreeFest to the iconic first-year class photo during B1G Show.

First Look Fair

The Stamp Student Union

First Look Fair serves as the ultimate hub for campus involvement, hosting over 650 student clubs, organizations, and departments. Gather resources, explore new interests and connect with peers who share similar interests.

Terps After Dark

The Stamp Student Union

Terps After Dark is a collection of free events designed to help students build connections with each other, and to feel engaged with the larger campus community during the first part of the fall semester.

Hugs & High Fives

Office of Family Engagement & Dean of Students Office

When finals approach, a little extra love goes a long way. Terp families visit campus to power our students through exam season with hugs, high-fives, and words of encouragement. It’s the perfect way to help students finish the semester strong.
