Outstanding Service Award

Home About Us Staff Development Outstanding Service Award

Since 2003, the Division of Student Affairs has recognized the contributions of both our “rising stars” and “seasoned” staff through the Outstanding Service Award program.  In 2005, the process was updated to strengthen the criteria, recognitions and nomination process.

We are now accepting nominations for the Student Affairs Outstanding Service Awards.  Nominations are due by Tuesday, April 14, at 4:00 p.m.

Who is eligible

  • Contract II staff
  • Non-exempt staff
  • Exempt staff
  • Graduate student

Awards are not separated by staff category, and multiple recipients will be selected.

What recipients receive

Award winners will receive:

  • Recognition at the Student Affairs Year-End Celebration
  • An awards luncheon with VPSA Patty Perillo and the VPSA Council
  • A choice of a financial award (in paycheck) or Terrapin Express.

How to nominate

The nomination process is entirely online and intentionally simple. Only one letter of recommendation is required (max 500 words).

When preparing the nomination, include specific examples of the nominee’s impact, such as:

  • Exceptional service to students or colleagues
  • Innovations or improvements they led
  • Initiatives beyond their core responsibilities
  • Measurable outcomes or results

Tips:

  • Concrete examples help reviewers clearly see the nominee’s contributions.
  • Prepare and save the nomination ahead of initiating the application, as you will be asked to upload your letter to the nomination.
  • Review the Nomination Resource Guide

Please encourage staff to nominate outstanding individuals in your department.  Previous nominations may be updated and resubmitted.
