Pat Tillman Scholarship Fund

The Tillman Military Scholarships at the University of Maryland are sponsored by the Pat Tillman Foundation "Leadership Through Action™" initiative, which is dedicated to supporting educational opportunities for servicemembers and their families. The scholarships are intended to cover direct study-related expenses, and will ensure these leaders have every opportunity to pursue broader educational goals.

First Command Veterans Scholarship

Created by the First Command Financial Services Office in Arlington, Virginia as a way to support the educational goals of military families, this scholarship provides financial assistance for Veterans and active duty military as well as their spouses and children.

Ernest M. Willcher Veterans Scholarship Fund

The Ernest M. Willcher Veterans Scholarship Fund was established in loving memory by his wife and sons of Ernest M. Willcher, who served in the US Army for four years and spent 36 years working for the Army as a civilian employee, before perishing in the events of Sept. 11, 2001. The Scholarship supports veteran students at the University of Maryland College Park.

Edward and Janet Friedson Memorial Veterans Scholarship

Established in 2010 by Edward and Janet Friedson’s family members, The Edward and Janet Friedson Memorial Veterans Scholarship, provides financial assistance to an undergraduate or graduate student who is a veteran, active duty member or a reservist of the U.S. military, demonstrates financial need, and either exhibits positive career ambitions or displays leadership and service to others in the community.

Dominic and Pat Ciardi Endowed Scholarship

The Dominic and Pat Ciardi Endowed Scholarship was established in honor of Dominic, a United States Marine Corps Veteran and his wife Pat by family and friends, including their children, Cindy Ciardi Whittington ’79, Kim Ciardi Madlinger ’81, Mark Ciardi ’83, and Scott Ciardi ’87 to support veterans at the University of Maryland who have financial need.
