Every member of the NewDay USA team shares a deep commitment to our community, Americas Veterans and their families. The NewDay USA Foundation along with the NewDay USA family continuously look for ways to better support those who have sacrificed so much for community and country. Helping our community and veterans advance is at the core of what we do.

About The Fund

The NewDay USA Veterans Scholarship supports scholarships for veterans, active duty service members or their dependents attending the University of Maryland.

Meet Our Scholars

Chris Hart is a Junior majoring in Biology with a minor in Health, Humanities, and Medicine at the University of Maryland, College Park. He is  currently the Director of Media Operations for the African Student Association on campus. After undergraduate, Chris will apply for medical school in hopes of becoming an orthopedic surgeon

Enicina Porter (2022-2024 Scholar)

headshotEnicia Porter is getting her Bachelor of Science in Information Science. She was recently accepted into the Smith School 4-plus-1 program. Starting Fall 2023, she will take classes that will count towards getting my MBA in business analytics while she finishes my Bachelor's degree. Enicia is also the treasurer for the Student Terp Vets Organization.

Steven Clausen (2019-2020 Scholar)

Steven smilingSteven Clausen is originally from Verplanck, New York. He is currently a student at The University of Maryland, pursuing a bachelors degrees in mathematics and a second in computer science. He joined the United States Navy and served as a TV and radio broadcaster for the American Forces Networks in Naples, Italy. When he has free time, he is an avid rock climber and struggling language learner. He is currently learning German and speaks a reasonable amount of Spanish. His hope is to work in the field of machine learning after he graduates from school.

Ernie Gomez (2018-2019 Scholar)

Ernie getting award in group photoErnie Gomez spends the time he isn't at College Park working for Tesla! He is a senior graduating in May with a Bachelors degree in Marketing. An eight year veteran of the US Marine Corps, Ernie served two deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. As a single father of three children, Ernie hopes to work in the area of sustainable energy helping people understand the need to move our dependency on fossil fuels to more sustainable energy sources.

Brian Harley

Sean Charbonneau

Sean is a six and a half year veteran of the United State Marine Corps with one deployment. He is the recipient of the Navy Achievement Medal and Meritorious Mast among others. Sean graduated with honors from the Defense Language Institute and is fluent in Arabic. He comes from a long line of Marines including his grandfather, father, uncle and brother.

Jason Musick

group photo of Jason getting awardJason Musick is an 8 year veteran of the US Marine Corps where he was deployed 3 times. Jason is a leader in TerpVets and an active supporter of Team River Runner. He is working toward his degree in Mechanical Engineering.
