Meet Our Scholars

Elana Mutnick’s experience here at Maryland has been nothing short of amazing. She has not only met the greatest people ever, but she knows she will be friends with them for many years even after her time here at Maryland. The friends that she has made through Greek life are indescribable, making her time at Maryland just that much greater. A little bit about Elana is that she has always had a love for sports, journalism, and family. She prioritizes her friends and family every day, and she would not be where she is today without them.

Past Scholars
Caroline Martin (2023 Scholar)
Caroline Martin is a junior from Allendale, New Jersey. She is studying both Marketing in the Robert H. Smith School of Business and Criminal Justice in the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences. On campus, she is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She serves as the Vice President of Membership and serves on the Executive Board. She is also a volunteer tutor for EduMate, an organization that provides New York City public school students with free, virtual tutoring. In the fall, she hopes to apply to law school in order to continue her education.
Alyssa Kohler (2021 Scholar)
I joined Kappa Alpha Theta in the spring of 2019, and the following Fall became Director of Community Service for my chapter at the University of Maryland. This position was extremely rewarding as I enjoyed seeing my chapter step up and take action where needed. Aside from holding this position, I serve as a Child Life volunteer at Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital's Prince George's location, as I hope to one day become a physician and work with children in underserved areas. I was inspired to take this track in college after working with an organization called Universal Promise, one that promotes healthcare and health education in rural parts of South Africa, for several years, and I am happy to say that I am still involved with this organization today. I am currently majoring in Public Health Science and minoring in Global Poverty in order to gain an understanding of healthcare on an international scale. To this end, I am also a part of the Global Fellows program here at UMD, and I look forward to continuing my exploration of worldwide healthcare through this program.
