Meet Our Scholars

MateoTorres

My name is Mateo Torres and I am a junior Finance Major at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. I am very active in the Beta Kappa Chapter of Kappa Alpha here at UMD, working hard to remain involved with my brothers after having served as President of the Fraternity from 2019 - 2020. Additionally, I am striving to expand my professional development opportunities and will be working as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst for Bank of America this summer in order to so. I am very grateful for all of the opportunities that this scholarship has given me, and will work very hard to put my own resources use in constructive ways to give back throughout the rest of my time at UMD and moving forward in my career.

Past Scholars

Tyler Villalobos (2021-2022 Scholar)

My name is Tyler Villalobos and I have been an active leader, dominating the role in every opportunity I delve into. I have been a teachers assistant for the past 2 years and feel humbled to work in the criminology department by helping professors and students succeed. I am the apparel chair for Kappa Alpha and love to create designs that we can sell to other Greek life chapters to put towards philanthropy. In school, I try to excel in all my classes. I have received Dean’s List honors 4 out of the past 5 semesters holding a cumulative GPA over 3.5. With the knowledge I have gained from Maryland, I hope to become a sports agent. I am currently studying for the LSAT to apply to law school next year. I am extremely grateful for this gratuity that has now allowed me to pay for law classes to help prepare me for the future.
