About the Fund
The Divine Nine Emergency Student Support Fund was established by alumni members of the Divine Nine organizations in recognition of their shared values and association with the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. (NPHC). Spendable income from the Divine Nine Emergency Student Support Fund provides emergency tuition and book assistance to undergraduate students who are members of a NPHC-affiliated organization and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at the University of Maryland. Priority is given to first-time applicants and those with expected graduation dates within two semesters of application.

Aniah Davis-Jackson (2023 Scholar)
Aniah Davis-Jackson is a Junior Public Health Science major on a Pre-PA track. She aspires to complete all the necessary degrees and training needed to be an OB/GYN and help to lower the prevalence of Pregnancy-related mortality in minorities, as that is a public health crisis that affects underrepresented women of color like her. Aniah is also a proud member of the elite Eta Epsilon chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. She serves as the chapter treasurer as well as risk management chair and sexual assault prevention chair. She holds these positions dear to her heart because she believes they are detrimental to the success of the chapter as well as the members of the chapter.
Miche Mouassami (2023 Scholar)
Miche Mouassami is a spring 2022 initiate of the Eta Epsilon Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and the Vice President and Secretary of the chapter. She is also the Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion for the University of Maryland's Pan-Hellenic Council as well as the community service chair for the University's step team. She is currently a Senior Family Science major at the University of Maryland, College-Park with the goal of going to nursing school in the fall of 2023.
Ian Penny (2023-2024 Scholar)
Ian Penny is a Senior Information Systems major at the University of Maryland College Park. He is a spring 2020 initiate of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Iota Zeta Chapter (6IZSP20). He is the Chapter Delegate and Vice President of the Iota Zeta Chapter. Ian is a DEI Ambassador for the Robert H. Smith School of Business and recently completed a summer internship with PwC as a technical project manager and a fall internship with NBCUniversal as an Operations Manager intern. Currently, he is deciding between multiple full-time opportunities.
Jessy-Manuella Tientcheu (2022-2023 Scholar)
Jessy-Manuella Tientcheu is a senior Computer Science major at the University of Maryland. She is Cameroonian and she and her family immigrated to the United States when she was 5 years old. Her ultimate goal in life is to make her parents proud and their sacrifices worth it. During her time in school, Jessy-Manuella has been blessed with the opportunity to be involved in Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorortiy, Incorporated, as a spring 2021 initiate. Also, she is an Undergraduate Outreach Coordinator for Code: BLACK.
Tamara Bethea (2021 Scholar)

Tamara was born and raised in PG County, Maryland. She is an Accounting/Information Systems major at the University of Maryland – Go Terps! On campus, Tamara is involved in an internship and several organizations that allow her to put her passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion to work. Currently, Tamara serves as the Special Projects Intern in the Office of Career Services. In this role, she creates initiatives that promote a more inclusive experience for the student body at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. This year, Tamara has chosen to focus on minority populations and carve out a campaign that seeks to better service underrepresented groups. Additionally, Tamara is the Executive Vice President of the Black Business Association, a Forté organization ambassador, and Treasurer of the Black Student Union. Tamara’s fun fact is that she has been learning how to sew over quarantine and has already started making her own summer wardrobe.
Camryn Edwards (2021 Scholar)
Camryn Edwards is a senior at the University of Maryland, College Park pursuing a B.S. in Public Health Science with a minor in Black Women’s Studies. In her time at the University, Camryn is currently president of the Theta Nu chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She is also involved in several honor societies including Order of Omega, Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Eta Sigma, and Phi Alpha Epsilon Public Health Honor Society. She has also volunteered with One Tent Health and served as a tutor for elementary school children on Thursday evenings. Her plan is to attend medical school and become a professional in the medical field, specializing in Obstetrics/Gynecology.
