About the Fund

The Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship Fund provides annual scholarships for undergraduate students at the University of Maryland who are chapter members.

Meet Our Scholars

Naomi Wilson

Naomi Wilson is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Science with a minor in Science, Technology, Ethics, and Policy at the University of Maryland, College Park, and is expected to graduate in May 2025. She has taken on leadership roles, including serving as President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, a community service-based and constructive development organization. Naomi also chaired the Gift of Giving Gala, working in collaboration with UMBA to organize the annual Gift of Giving Gala. She is a 2023 Exelon STEM Leadership Scholar and the 2023 Miss Unity Scholarship Pageant winner. Naomi is dedicated to advancing in the information science field and contributing through leadership and technical expertise. She has professional experience supporting the Department of Defense, and aims to hone her skills to become a program manager.

Past Scholars

Sydney Neal (2023-2024 Scholar)

Sydney Neal is a Public Policy major with a concentration in Race and Gender Justice and a minor in Black women's studies. While at the University of Maryland, she has been involved in many clubs and organizations on campus, such as the Black Student Union and the First-Year Book Committee. She was also a swim instructor through Recwell and a teaching assistant as a member of the CIVICUS living and learning community. Sydney is a member of the Kappa Phi chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and served as the Program Planning and Development chair for the 2023-2024 school year.

Pride Kewkam (2022-2023 Scholar)

On campus, Pride served as a mentor for the Maryland Mentors Corp and as Vice President for the Charles R. Drew Pre-Health Society. Currently, she is the President of the Kappa Phi Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and has served as a Resident Assistant for the past two years. After graduation, Pride hopes to become a Project Manager working to improve access to technology to promote healthcare literacy in underfunded communities.

Monae Kerney (2021-2022 Scholar)

Monae Kerney is a senior International Business and Chinese double major. Monae has been able to experience a multitude of academic and leadership opportunities while attending UMD, including becoming a Campus Tour Guide and Resident Assistant (RA). As a tour guide and RA, Monae was able to connect with students and ensure they received the ideal collegiate experience. Monae's support system encouraged her to pursue her passions and grow beyond her limitations. As she grew in confidence and experience, she had the opportunity to work at Sherwin-Williams and Vindico Medical Education where she was able to apply the knowledge she gained from academic coursework. She is so grateful for these experiences and opportunities that have made her the person she is today.
