About The The Alexion and Siahatgar Families

The Alexion and Siahatgar families both have generations of proud Terps in their ranks. Long-time friends Perry Alexion '87 and Bijan Siahatgar '88 served as active campus leaders while attending the University of Maryland. Perry and Rachelle Alexion, in partnership with Bijan and Kanchan Siahatgar, are committed to the men and women who have served our country. In support of our UMD veteran students and in tribute to their collective UMD family pride, the Alexion and Siahatgar families created this scholarship.

About The Fund

Perry W. Alexion 87 and Rachelle M. Alexion and Bijan R. Siahatgar 88 and Kanchan Siahatgar established the Alexion and Siahatgar Families Endowed Veterans Scholarship in 2015. The Scholarship provides need-based support to student veterans at the University of Maryland.

Meet Our Scholars

Mahfouz Afada was a transfer student from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill searching for a solid computer science education. Ever since then, he has engaged with the campus' various clubs and events, throwing himself into the large expanse and seeing what he wants to stick with. Mahfouz has found art club friends and soon-to-be game dev buddies, and he hopes to keep making these connections during my time here.
