Gift of Giving Gala: Casino Royale

April 11, 2025 | Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center

The Gift of Giving Gala is a scholarship and awards gala to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Black alumni, students, faculty, and staff. Scholarships will be awarded to several current and incoming students through the Student Success Service Leadership Scholarship. This black-tie affair brings together community with a cocktail reception, open bar, seated dinner, awards ceremony, live band, DJ, and dancing.

Scholarships

The Gift of Giving Gala supports scholarship initiatives that empower the next generation of Black student leaders at the University of Maryland.

All proceeds from the event directly support the following funds:

  • Student Success Service Leadership Scholarship Fund
  • Nyumburu Cultural Center Scholarship Fund
  • Black Alumni Outreach and Engagement Fund

Your support helps ensure that outstanding students have access to the resources, recognition, and opportunities they deserve.

Anne Mbessa

Anne Mbessa ‘26

  • Junior, Psychology Major
  • Founder and President of the Health Law Society
  • Legal Intern at Price Benowitz LLP
  • A Fellow with both BLACK HEALTH CARES and the Terrapin Think Tank in the School of Public Health.
  • A member of Pi Delta Phi, the National French Honor Society.
