Parents & Families

Home Parents & Families

We know how important your student is and the valuable role you play in continuing to support their success. The Terp experience can be a great one, but we also recognize there are times when your student may face challenges that affect their UMD experience and they need help navigating the complexities of university life.

The Office of Family Engagement is the university’s single point of contact for the families of our undergraduate students. The Family Engagement team is here to offer support to you—as parents and family—so that you can, in turn, provide the necessary guidance, direction, advice, and support for your students. Whether your student is experiencing academic difficulties, physical illness or injury, housing concerns, crisis/emergency situations, or another issue, they are here to help. You can reach the Office of Family Engagement via email at terpfamily@umd.edu or by phone at 301.314.8429.

If your student needs support and they don’t know where to begin, please refer them to the Dean of Students Office (DOS). The DOS team works cooperatively with students to help them address challenges, identify solutions, and get them connected with other programs and services at UMD that can provide additional support. You or your student can reach the Dean of Students Office by email at deanofstudents@umd.edu or by phone at 301.314.8484. The DOS team is available Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
