Ryan Andreasen

2025-2026 Scholar

Ryan Andreasen grew up in Marlboro, NJ, and chose to defer a year at the University of Maryland to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps as a reservist at 18. During his gap year, he accomplished his life goal of becoming a Marine. He was named honor graduate at the top of his class in aircraft maintenance before volunteering to serve an additional 4 months of active duty. While his time in the Marine Corps has had an indescribable impact on his life, he now claims the University of Maryland as his home, as he set his sights on graduating with a bachelor's degree in computer science. Upon graduation, he hopes to work on the civilian side of military projects to continue his service, only this time without a uniform.
