Marcella Goldring

2020-2021 Newcombe Scholar

Marcella Goldring is a senior at the University of Maryland, studying Criminology & Criminal Justice, and is a member of the 2015-2017 cohort of the competitive Global Terrorism minor program at UMD. During her time as a student, she has remained engaged on campus, serving as a peer mentor for first-generation Latino college students, co-founding and leading the Maryland Latin Dance Club, and co-creating two award-winning student-led social campaigns. She was also involved off-campus, working to empower bystanders during her time at the Center for Health and Homeland Security, and serving as the volunteer coordinator for 100+ volunteers for various festivals in the DMV area.

In her free time, she is a kitten foster with the SPCA, and before Covid-19, she was also an avid Latin dancer and performer. She began her undergraduate journey 9 years ago and looks forward to finally graduating this December!
