Kevin Tu

2022-2023 Scholar

Kevin is working towards a double degree in Biological Sciences Physiology and Neurobiology (BS) and Economics (BS) with a minor in Nonprofit Leadership and Social Innovation.  Kevin volunteers as a crisis counselor on the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, and used his experiences on the lifeline to co-found an emotional support textline for UMD students called Lean On Me. Additionally, Kevin founded the nonprofit Combating Overdoses in Rural Areas (CORA), which provides drug education, harm reduction, and resources to rural communities through a national network of chapters.

Additionally, during Kevin's time at UMD Kevin founded the first lasting satirical newspaper on campus, The Hare. After graduation Kevin plans to attend medical school and become a physician scientist
