Earl Cabellon is the Director for Staff Experience and Culture in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. In this role, he shapes and drives a comprehensive vision and strategy that impacts over 1,500 full-time and part-time employees within the Division of Student Affairs. His leadership is dedicated to creating a dynamic, inclusive culture that champions talent acquisition, development, and retention.
Earl began his professional journey at the University of Maryland in 2004, joining University Recreation & Wellness, where he held various roles within the department. His work encompassed facility management, designing training and development programs for student employees and full-time staff, and serving as a member of the senior leadership team.
A lifelong learner, Earl holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from the University of Rhode Island and a Master's degree in Recreation Administration from Bowling Green State University. To enhance his diverse skill set, Earl is a certified professional coach, accredited by the Co-Active Training Institute (CPCC) and recognized as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) by the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
Originally from the Ocean State of Rhode Island, Earl has made Maryland his home for nearly two decades. He is happily married to Angela Lagdameo Cabellon, a proud alumna of the University of Maryland, College Park. Together, they delight in raising their son, Elijah, who they hope will follow in their footsteps as a future Terrapin. Earl’s journey is one of passion, dedication, and a sprinkle of fun as he continues to make a lasting impact on the University of Maryland community.
