About the Eva and Anastasios Karavangelos Endowed Scholarship: 

The Eva and Anastasios Karavangelos Endowed Scholarship was establishded in 2023 by Anna Karavangelos '56. The fund was established in honor of Ms. Karavangelos' parents, Eva and Anastasios, who immigrated from Velvendos, Greece, and encouraged her pursuit of higher education. Ms. Karavangelos hopes that this scholarship willl similarly encourage other immigrant students who are passionate about pursuing education and in turn helping their families. 

About the Fund: 

The Eva and Anastasios Karavangelos Endowed Scholarship fund provides scholarships for undergraduate students at the University of Maryland. Preference is given to students who meet the following criteria, and consideration will be made in this order: 

  • First preference is given to documented or undocumented immigrant students, students whose parent(s) are immigrants, or immigrant students who have obtained US citizenship, and reside in Prince George's County, Maryland at the time of enrollment. 
  • Second preference is given to documented or undocumented immigrant students, students whose parent(s) are immigrants, or immigrant students who have obtained US citizenship, and reside in any county in the state of Maryland at the time of enrollment 
  • Third preference is given to documented or undocumented immigrant students, students whose parent(s) are immigrants, or immigrant students who have obtained US citizenship, regardless of state of residence
