About The Returning Student Program
The Returning Student Program was created to provide support for adult students who are in need of financial assistance to continue their education at the University of Maryland.
About The Fund
The Returning Student Program is made up of three scholarships. The Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation Scholarships range from $800-$1500 and are available to returning students who are 25 years or older, be admitted as an undergraduate at the University, and have completed at least half the credits needed to complete a degree. Gerald G. Portney Memorial Scholarship is available to undergraduate students 23 years of age and older who are in good academic standing. The Marilyn K. Brown Memorial Current-Use Scholarship for Returning Students will provide merit-based scholarships for returning undergraduate students at the University of Maryland. Returning students are defined as at least 25 years of age who have earned at least 60 credits toward their first bachelor’s degree.
