Sreelekshmy Rengith

2023-2024 Scholar

Hailing from the southernmost part of India, Trivandrum, Kerala, Sreelekshmy Rengith embarked on a journey to the United States, driven by childhood aspirations fueled by tales of opportunities and an elevated standard of living. Following the completion of her undergraduate studies in Computer Science, she delved into the corporate IT industry, serving as a Systems Engineer for two and a half years. A pivotal moment prompted her to transition to the next chapter of her life, leading her to the University of Maryland.

In her first year at UMD, Sreelekshmy engaged with a diverse audience and immersed herself in various experiences. Serving as a volunteer for Maryland Day was not only a joyful experience but also a testament to her commitment to contributing to the university community. Her time at C&VS has been transformative, fostering personal growth and forging lifelong connections.

Actively participating in the AppDev club at UMD has further enriched her understanding of Computer Science, providing valuable insights into the domain and facilitating networking opportunities with like-minded individuals. As Sreelekshmy reflects on my journey, she is grateful for the multifaceted experiences and the vibrant community that UMD has provided, shaping her into a more well-rounded individual.
