Sabrina Purtee

2023 Scholar

Sabrina Purtee is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree at UMD CP and intends to continue her education up to the Ph.D. level. She has a keen interest in niche and/or threatened ecological communities with environmental significance, and would love the opportunity to  research these to inform future conservation policy. One of Sabrina’s part-time jobs is tutoring students in STEM subjects at her former community college which is an incredibly rewarding experience that she will continue as long as possible and she hopes to take it up at UMD CP after the completion of her first semester. At UMD CP, Sabrina is presently involved in the FIRE (First-year Innovation and Research Experience) program and will be applying to work in different labs on campus that she’s taken interest in. Over the summer, Sabrina had the opportunity to conduct research with her previous chemistry professor at Frederick Community College which involved testing lab instrument integrity and designing an organic chemistry experiment for calles in the upcoming semester.
