Oscar Portillo

Oscar hails from Maryland. At 18, he joined the United States Marine Corps. Stationed at Marine Corps Air Station-Cherry Point, he supported communication and data operations as a data systems technician. He served one deployment to Afghanistan and volunteered for a special duty assignment as a Marine Security Guard protecting American Embassies in Copenhagen, Denmark; Havana, Cuba; and Rabat, Morocco. After almost six years as an active duty service member, he began work as a government contractor. In 2017, he enrolled at the Smith School of Business at UMD with a double major in Operations Management and Business Analytics and Information Systems.
