Nana Afful

2018-2019 Scholar

Nana Afful is a Biological Sciences: Physiology and Neurobiology major from Gaithersburg who will be graduating in May of 2019 from and hopes to attend medical school in Maryland to achieve her goal of becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon. While at Montgomery College, Nana tutored at the Science Learning Center. She also worked with the head of the biology department at Montgomery College Germantown on identifying a new eye color in drosophila. Currently, she assists the University of Maryland-Insect Transformation Facility at the Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology Research. Additionally, she is a teaching assistant for Cell Biology and has served over 400 hours volunteering at Holy Cross Hospital assisting doctors and nurses.

When she is not working, she takes her disabled mother to physical therapy and assists her sister with her new business.
