Michael Gardiner

2024 Scholar

Due to Covid and his co-op position, Michael Gardiner’s time at University of Maryland has not been typical. He’s prevailed through online education and taking extended breaks in his education. Despite these factors, he has done his best to be an involved and active member of the UMD community. Michael is a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, and in his time with the chapter he served as the recruitment chair and the philanthropy chair. He  has been fortunate enough to be a member of the University of Maryland Lab Band, which has enriched his musical experience on campus. In regards to his co-op position, Michael has been working for the Department of Defense training for a full-time position in cybersecurity since the fall of 2021. These efforts have landed him an offer post graduation which he has accepted. Finally, Michael has been working on a computer science capstone project in CMSC435. He and his group are developing a virtual robot and accompanying game for the Neuromotor Control and Learning Laboratory  here on campus.
