"Although writing for a college newspaper has been extremely enjoyable and rewarding, a lot of the reporting that I do can be done from my dorm room- which I know is not the case at The Washington Post, New York Times, or any other major publication. Bearing this in mind, I realized that any internship I chose would need to force me out into the "real" world. Being awarded the Bright Futures Unpaid Internship Scholarship made this a possibility. I have grown tremendously as a journalist during my time at Street Sense. At a recent performance evaluation, my supervisor, who is also the editor-in-chief, commented on how he has seen my reporting, writing and attention to detail increased tremendously since my first day." -Michael Brice-Saddler, Street Sense
