Kevin Flores

2019-2020 Scholar

Kevin is a first-generation Salvadorian American from Glenmont, Maryland. He is a senior Public Health Science major and pre-medical student graduating this winter from the University of Maryland. He intends to take a gap year or two before medical school to work as a Clinical Research Coordinator in Oncology. Throughout his time at the University, Kevin has involved himself by volunteering in emergency rooms, as well as volunteering his abilities to interpret and advocate for Spanish-speaking patients and underinsured patients while working part-time with an oncology practice. Down the road, Kevin intends to pursue the Naval Health Profession Scholars Program. In his career, he hopes to ameliorate the social determinants of health to alleviate disparities in health outcomes. Kevin draws inspiration and motivation to pursue his goals from his passions for fairness, equality, and a desire to see his communities thrive.
