Julia Mikolajczak

2018-2019 Scholar

I am a second-year Criminal Justice major with minors in Global Poverty and Public Leadership from Niagara Falls, NY. I am also in the University Honors and Beyond the Classroom programs. I intend to graduate a year early from UMD in Spring 2019, so I consider myself to be a junior. I currently serve as Chair of the Appellate Board in the University Student Judiciary, and I was selected to join USJ's Executive Board as Selections Co-Chair for 2018-2019 year. I am also finishing my second semester as a Team Leader for the educational advocacy organization Partners in Print, which is based out of STAMP and part of the America Reads/America Counts program.

Additionally, I founded a new club at UMD last semester, the Out-of-State Student Association, in order to create a supportive environment to help out-of-state students like myself make friends on campus and explore the local area. As president, I have been working extremely hard this semester to recruit more members and get it off the ground. I am a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta & Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Phi Sigma honor societies, and I served on the APS Executive Board last semester. I have also been named to the BSOS Distinguished Dean's List for Outstanding Students every semester that I have attended UMD. After graduation, I hope to attend law school so I can practice criminal law as a prosecutor.
