Portrait of Jasmin Cruz

Jasmin Cruz

2024-2025 Scholar

As a first-generation transfer student from Montgomery College, Jazmin’s  journey at the University of Maryland has been one of resilience and unwavering passion. Transitioning to a new academic environment while balancing a full-time job and a rigorous school schedule has been challenging. Still, it has also shaped Jasmin into a stronger, more focused individual. Jasmin’s commitment to her studies in Hearing and Speech Sciences is driven by a profound desire to make a difference in the lives of others, particularly children with communication disorders. At UMD, Jasmin has embraced every opportunity to grow both academically and personally. Joining the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA) has allowed her to expand her network and connect with like-minded peers who share a passion for helping others. This experience has deepened Jasmin’s understanding of the SLP field and fueled her ambition to contribute meaningfully to the diverse Terp community.
