James Hawkins

2024-2025 Scholar

James Hawkins has lived in Howard County, Maryland since he was in fourth grade. He’s been a part of the band program since then, playing trombone every semester all the way to the end of high school. James joined Tri-M Music Honors Society in tenth grade in order to do service through the lens of music, and continued participation through his senior year. Starting in middle school, James gained an interest in social studies. He studied mostly history until tenth grade, when he picked up government and politics, and then international relations in eleventh grade. James also joined the National History Honors Society in tenth grade so he had an avenue to do more history-related work, and has continued in it through the end of high school. Also in tenth grade, James found an interest in computer science while taking AP Computer Science Principles, which he has continued to pursue academically since then, and into University.
