Portrait of Iman Hassen

Iman Hassen

2020 - 2021 Scholar

Iman has worked with Maryland Mentor Corps since August of 2018 as a first-year student. Throughout her years with this program and as a team leader, Iman has mentored many students and conducted workshops on literacy, education advocacy, and college readiness within Prince George’s County Elementary schools. She has not only worked within the county but also the LCSL office, researching reading activities, planning family events and celebrations, and resources for local families. Iman says that she loves working with this program because "these parents remind me of my own parents, and the kids remind me of myself. I'm so glad I found this opportunity to connect to families similar to mine and help them in any way I can when it comes to navigating the education system." Lastly, working with Partners in Print has sparked her interest in researching education policy with a focus on social justice, human rights, and covering marginalized groups and stories.
