Heather Harwood

2024-2026 Scholar

Heather Harwood, a Navy veteran, was stationed in Bethesda, MD in 2019, where she served as a surgical technologist and hospital corpsman. As the lead surgical technologist for the plastic and reconstructive service, she supported efforts for the Wounded Warrior Project and during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, she held a leadership role managing a $6 million inventory of human allograft tissue, supporting surgeries across multiple specialties. She graduated with a bachelor's in public health in 2025. On the pre-medical path, she is continuing her medical school prerequisites in the Science in the Evening program at UMD.
