As an undergraduate electrical engineering student at the University of Maryland, Friedrich Alvarez is deeply engaged in enhancing his skills in robotics, controls, and microelectronics. Serving as the President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at UMD, Friedrich has revitalized the organization to better support the technical and professional growth of its members. His dedication to diversity in STEM propels his active participation in the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) and the Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), where Friedrich mentors peers and leads initiatives that expand opportunities for underrepresented groups. Through these roles, Friedrich contributes to a vibrant academic and social community, fostering an environment where future engineers can thrive and innovate.
