Dr. Mary Hummel

Mary L Hummel serves as the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Maryland. As Assistant Vice President, Mary leads and manages campus-wide programs and services for Resident Life; Residential Facilities; Dining, Catering and Concessions; Conference and Visitor Services. In addition, she serves as an Affiliate Associate Profession in the Higher Education and Student Affairs Graduate Program. Previously, she served as the Director of Housing and Residence Life at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and as the Associate Director of Housing at the University of Michigan. At Michigan, she was the founding director of two of the living/learning programs, based on access for women and underrepresented students. She has written and presented primarily in the area of residentially based academic programs. Mary has her B.A. and M.Ed. from the Pennsylvania State University and her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan from the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education.
