Arman Charkhabi

2024-2025 Scholar

Being a tour guide has been one of the most rewarding parts of Arman’s college experience. Over the years, he’s come to understand how to connect with visitors, making sure they feel welcome and informed about what makes UMD such a special place. Arman is especially passionate about helping others from diverse backgrounds navigate their way to and through college, particularly within the Computer, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences (CMNS) fields. In his role as a CMNS Ambassador, Arman is deeply committed to making STEM careers more accessible and inclusive, and he hopes to ease incoming students' concerns about these challenging yet rewarding majors. As a former Life Science Scholars Peer Mentor and Engagement Assistant, Arman has had the honor of guiding freshman students through their college journey. He takes pride in being a "big brother" and role model, sharing the insights and information he wished he had as an incoming student. Arman’s efforts to help students overcome obstacles and build a supportive community have been recognized with the Scholars Citizenship Award, a testament to his dedication and leadership within the Scholars program.
