Alexander Nance

2022-2023 Scholar

I am currently a junior at Maryland majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Law and Society. My long-term hope is to attend law school where I plan on studying to work as a criminal prosecutor. Along with taking classes this semester, I also began my first ever internship working at the Family Justice Center in Rockville, Maryland giving me my first look into the field I want to go into. At the FJC, we work with victims of domestic abuse where we assist them with obtaining protective orders, safety planning, and most importantly providing the victim with a sense of comfort. I work in the client services department where I’m responsible for screening calls, delivering protective orders to the sheriff’s office, database entry, babysitting victim’s children when they are meeting with one of our client specialists, and whatever else they need me for. I have enjoyed working collaboratively as a team during my internship and I actively look for opportunities to be a leader and improve efficiency whenever possible.
