Alan Friesen

2023-2024 Scholar

Alan Friesen is a graduate student at the University of Maryland School of Education.  He is training to be a Social Studies teacher at the secondary level (middle school and high school).  He's currently fifty-two years old; is married to his beautiful wife Xiaoqiong (Olivia) and he has three lovely daughters: Tina, Susan, and Nicole. Alan graduated from Maryland with a History degree in 2001. Since that time he's worked in hospitality in West Virginia, security, and transportation in Portland, Oregon, and most recently he delivered mail for the US Postal Service in New York City. He's always wanted to be a teacher however, and this year that opportunity has finally presented itself.
