About Arthur and Marianne Schneider
Arthur and Marianne met in class at the University of Maryland in 1970. Both Arthur and Marianne were born on Long Island.
After graduating from high school in Los Angeles, Marianne worked and took courses in Korea and then transferred to College Park. Marianne graduated from the University of Maryland in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in business followed by a Master of Business Administration from Frostburg State University. She has since retired from the working for the State of Maryland in the Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation and currently runs the business side of the law practice. In her spare time, Marianne has served as the president of the Washington County Humane Society, has been a member of the Washington County Board of Election Supervisors, a member of the Fountainhead Country Club, and a member of the Paul Harris/Rotary-Hagerstown Sunrise Rotary Club. In addition to being active in the community, Marianne enjoys golf and travelling.
Arthur graduated from the New York Military Academy on a music scholarship and attended University of Maryland University College in Okinawa and Germany while serving for four and a half years in the Air Force, honorably discharged as an E5 Staff Sergeant. He received an Associate in Arts degree from UMUC (Europe Division), a Bachelor of Arts degree from UMUC, and a Juris Doctor from the Antioch School of Law. Arthur is an active trial lawyer in his solo practice. Memberships and associations include the Board of Governors for the Maryland State Bar Association, the Office of the Maryland Public Defender Board of Directors, past president of the Washington County Bar Association, past president of the Antietam Exchange Club, and numerous other community and professional organizations. In addition to being a member of the Fountainhead Country Club, Arthur shares Marianne’s passion for golf and travel.
About The Fund
Arthur and Marianne Schneider established the scholarship in 2012 in order to provide assistance to veteran students. The scholarship is open to qualified, undergraduate full-time students who are either active, or honorably discharged from, military service and who have financial need.
