Supporting Terps During the COVID-19 Pandemic

As the University of Maryland works to continue providing our students with a world-class education during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is clear that many of our students are experiencing extreme hardships no one could have predicted.

As a community, we can help to ensure everyone is healthy, safe and has access to their most basic needs. The UMD Student Crisis Fund provides critical funds to students who need immediate assistance for transportation, food, housing and much more.

We typically receive two to five applications for emergency support per week. Between March 11 and March 24, we received 931 applications, and have seen spikes of up to 231 applications in a single day. 

With 134 applications in the queue, and funding depleted, we need your support today. A gift to the UMD Student Crisis Fund will help students who are facing:

  • A loss of an on-campus job due to classes moving online.
  • A parent’s loss of job due to closing of non-essential businesses.
  • A lack of funding for food and housing following the closure of campus residences.
