April 20 Message

Dr. Allison Asarch, a psychologist at the UMD Counseling Center, shares events and resources to help you through this potentially stressful time, including PAWS for Self Care with therapy dogs and wellness activities on McKeldin Mall.

Hey Terps,

It’s hard to believe the spring semester is winding down, and summer is just in sight. Every year at this time, this means studying for finals, applying for jobs or internships, completing your capstone projects, or preparing for commencement. This can feel stressful and overwhelming. Know that you are almost there, and we’re here for you. You are not alone!

Today from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on McKeldin Mall, our friends at the Counseling Center invite you to take a ‘pause’ from your academics to focus on your self-care. Come out between your classes for stress management activities and ‘PAWsome’ dog therapy.

Dr. Allison Asarch discusses the importance of taking care of your mental health, always, and particularly during times of stress. Find out about the services and resources at the University Counseling Center, including free virtual wellness workshops to help you refocus, rest, and rejuvenate. For more, go to: counseling.umd.edu.

Terps, if you need support we are here for you — always! Reach out as needed and we will keep reaching in!

You’ve got this Terps, and we’ve got you,

Dr. Patty Perillo
Vice President for Student Affairs
