Campus Recreation provides varied programs and services which will contribute to the health and well- being of the University of Maryland community. It is the mission of this department to educate participants in the responsible use of leisure by providing an atmosphere which fosters the development of lifelong patterns of recreational activity and opportunities for participation in such activity for all members of the university community, regardless of age, sex, race, or motor ability.

Conferences & Visitor Services is comprised of three main areas of focus: Summer Conference Services, Meeting Planning Services and Visitor Services. We provide assistance in support of conferences and other activities that promote the educational mission, produce revenue, and support the outreach and public service mission of the University.

Services:

Provide a one-stop shop  for coordinating on-campus summer conferences and camps;
Manage the summer conference housing program;
Employ 70+ students throughout the year;
Provide year round meeting planning and registration services for academic conferences and seminars;
Coordinate events on campus throughout the year and assist with campus-wide events;
Oversee and manage the University Visitor Center and Visitor Services program.

Counseling Center is "the primary place where the most highly specialized psychological and educational skills are applied to the resolution of students’ problems—the place where the student gets the kind of attention that he or she cannot get in any other place in the University. The Counseling Center provides free and confidential services by professional psychologists and counselors for all University of Maryland students and other members of the campus community.

Development & External Relations provides Division wide leadership and support in the areas of fundraising and external relations. Through the establishment and cultivation of relationships with friends, parents, alumni, foundations and corporations, we work to create shared interests with an ultimate goal of philanthropic support for Division wide and departmental priorities.

Serve as a staff resource regarding funding sources, fundraising fundamentals, ethical and legal issues regarding donations and relationships with donors.
Work with units and departments to create strategies that assist in the establishment of relationships and partnerships that lead to the enhancement of the student experience through cash gifts, internships, speakers, gifts-in-kind and grants.
Provide assistance in the area of foundation grants including: research, strategy development, proposal writing and review.
 

Dining Services provides meals for resident students and a wide range of related services to students, faculty, staff and guests.

Two dining halls situated in the North and South Campus residential communities are great locations to catch up with co- workers and friends across campus. Both locations provide a variety of menu options and ala carte pricing.

Good Tidings Catering features a full-service catering experience for campus and private events.

Advise over 60 Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities and four umbrella governing councils.
Serve as liaison between the University and fraternity/sorority inter/national offices.
Manage 21 University-owned chapter houses.

Encourage and support chapter & faculty advisors, house corporations, and stake holders.
Offer credit-bearing leadership classes to fraternity and sorority leaders.

Golf Course provides professional service and high quality products to a diverse community including University students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors.

Services:

The University’s Golf Course opened in 1958 and is situated just west of the main campus on 150 acres of rolling hills and mature hardwoods, and is recognized as one of the best public golf courses in the DC area. The facility includes a 6850 yard championship course, driving range, full service golf shop, locker room facilities, banquet room, covered pavilion, dining room and bar. Individual and group lessons are available throughout the year with PGA golf professionals. The course can also be booked for golf outings, and the clubhouse is available for meetings, parties and retreats.


Health Centerexists to provide cost-effective high quality health care to the entire diverse campus community with particular focus on wellness and prevention, and to participate as a full member in the teaching/learning community on campus.

Residential Facilities delivers the highest standards of safety, • cleanliness and comfort for those who live and work in the residence halls, campus recreation facilities, and on-campus Greek chapter houses.

Services:

Provides maintenance, housekeeping, and pest control services for all on-campus residence halls and for the Golf Course
Club House, Ritchie Coliseum, and Eppley Recreation Center.
Provides maintenance and pest control services for Greek Chapter Houses on Fraternity/Sorority Row and renovated
“Graham Cracker” sorority houses.
Responds to snow, ice, and other weather emergencies. Clears snow and ice from porches, patios, and walkways adjacent
to the residence halls.
Installs, manages, and maintains electronic security and card access systems in all on-campus residences and in campus
recreation facilities.
Directs and coordinates major building initiatives such as space renovations, exterior painting, roof replacements and
exterior site development and repairs for buildings we maintain.
Manages and coordinates residence hall waste management and recycling efforts.

Resident Life provides the basic housing services that are made available to resident students; to insure the orderly, cost-effective operation of campus residence halls; to promote the existence of an environment where student and community development, academic excellence, respect for individual differences, and constructive social interaction is valued and advanced; and to insure that fiscal and human resources are managed effectively and consistent with University policies and procedures.

Provides Academic Integrity presentations for classes and student organizations.

Transportation Servicesis dedicated to providing service to the campus community through planning, education, and enforcement. DOTS is the primary agency responsible for administering parking and transit management programs on the College Park campus.

Issue parking permits to most vehicles driven on campus.
Provide transportion on campus for all students, faculty, staff and visitors.
Process parking violation notices issued for illegal parking on campus.
Provide resources and avenues for alternatives to single-occupancy vehicles on campus such as administering a campus
carpool program, bicycle registration, Metrochek, and Zipcar services.
